Architect Clare Hosmer of Chicago designed the beautiful Mediterranean revival resort Villa Serena in Whitfield Estates in 1926, across from the Sara Bay Country Club. Baseball icon Babe Ruth stayed at Villa Serena, and so did golf legend Bobby Jones.
